Lower - In this procedure, the excess fat or puffiness from the lower eyelids is removed. The excess skin of the lower eyelids can be very difficult to treat. If there is a slight shortening of the lower eyelid, it can lead to sever lower eyelid ectropian (inverting the lower eyelid outward). This complication can cause severe eye irritation and corneal changes, which could be damaging to the eye itself. Many surgeons recommend removing the excess fat from the inside of the eyelid with no incision made outside. It is recommended to combine this procedure with laser resurfacing or chemical peels to treat the lower eyelid excess skin or wrinkles.
