Alcon Toric Intraocular Lens

Alcon Toric IOL (Intraocular Lens) refers to a specific type of artificial lens manufactured by Alcon, a leading ophthalmic pharmaceutical and medical device company. Toric IOLs are specifically designed to address astigmatism, a common refractive error that affects the shape of the cornea, resulting in blurred or distorted vision. Toric IOLs have 2 powers that are oriented in specific meridians to correct the 2 powers or the cornea that are a result of the different curvatures of the cornea as occurs in patients with astigmatism.

Toric lenses for patients with astigmatism

People with astigmatism have blur at both distance and near from the astigmatism.  When corrected with an implant lens, most people have excellent distance vision but still require reading glasses.  Some people choose to have their reading vision corrected and will wear glasses for sharp distance vision.

It’s important to note that specific details and features of Alcon Toric IOLs may vary depending on the specific model or version available at the time of your surgery. It’s always best to consult with your eye care professional for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding Alcon Toric IOLs and their suitability for your individual needs.
