Advanced Surface Ablation

Advanced Surface Ablation

In Advanced Surface Ablation, the surgeon removes the superficial layer (epithelium) covering the corneal tissue. The cool beam of the excimer laser removes a microscopic amount of corneal tissue changing the way the eye focuses light.

LASIK

LASIK

In LASIK, the surgeon creates a thin flap of corneal tissue that is gently folded back to reveal the inner layer of the cornea. The cool beam of the excimer laser removes a microscopic amount of tissue changing the way the eye focuses light. After the laser treatment, the flap is gently returned to its normal position.
