
Blepharitis a generic term for an inflammation of the edge of the eyelids. There are two categories of Blepharitis.

A chalazion is a non-infectious blockage of a meibomian gland on the eyelid resulting in an acute red, elevated nodule on the lid.

Conjunctivitis is a generic term for any inflammation of the conjunctiva (the fine saran wrap-like covering of the front of the eye and inside of the eyelids).

Dry Eye Syndrome is an inflammatory condition of the front of the eyes. When the eyes become dry, they become inflamed and release inflammatory mediators into the tears. These then cause inflammation of the cornea, conjunctiva, and lacrimal gland.

There are many types of glaucoma with the most common ones being Open Angle Glaucoma, Angle closure Glaucoma, Pigmentary Glaucoma, Pseudoexfoliation Glaucoma, and Normal Tension Glaucoma.

A pterygium is a growth of fibrous tissue on the conjunctiva of the eye that extends onto the cornea.

Anterior uveitis affects the front of the eye. It is often called iritis because it mainly affects the area around the eye’s iris. Anterior uveitis is the most common kind of uveitis in children and adults making up 40-70% of all uveitis. It is usually acute and is associated with pain, light sensitivity and redness.
